Company History

Davie Lovell-Smith

The Company was established in 1880 by F.H. Davie, initially as a land surveying firm. F.L. Davie came into the practice in 1907 and was succeeded by J.M.H. Davie in 1957. Brian Lovell-Smith joined the practice in 1945 and Davie Lovell-Smith came into being.

The Company was extended to provide land development services with civil and structural engineering in the 1950’s and extended further in the 1960’s to provide town and rural planning services. In the 1970s the Company extended further to provide resource management, environmental sciences, recreational, regional and tourism planning.

More recently the range of services expanded to include landscape architecture. Today, Davie Lovell-Smith is able to draw on a broad range of experience and skills to assist clients in a wide range of development projects.
